A Man's Tribute

He was a true kind man
Throughout his life
Everyone was his number one fan
With laughter on his face
A heart you couldn’t replace
He would always smile along
If he could sing, this would be his song

Come stay a while stranger
Come stay a while with me
Just keep yourself here longer
While I put out the tea
Don’t fret, I’ll keep you fed
You can even sleep on my bed
For if a man can’t give you a welcome,
What right has he to say, that he’s a man at aw’?

Aye, he could get into trouble
Just like all men do
On his wife, you’d see the blood bubble
And he would see it too
She’d give him the silent treatment
‘Sorry, I didn’t mean it’
And the anger would be gone
If he could sing, this would be his song

Come stay a while stranger
Come stay a while with me
Just keep yourself here longer
While I put out the tea
Don’t fret, I’ll keep you fed
You can even sleep on my bed
For if a man can’t give you a welcome,
What right has he to say, that he’s a man at aw’?

Sadly he has left us
Illness took him away
But still he watches over us
Each and every day
A man you would’ve loved to love
A man who shines from above
Even though he is gone
We can still sing, sing his song

Come stay a while stranger
Come stay a while with me
Just keep yourself here longer
While I put out the tea
Don’t fret, I’ll keep you fed
You can even sleep on my bed
For if a man can’t give you a welcome,
What right has he to say, that he’s a man at aw’?
