Have You Ever

Have you ever lived,
In all the days of your beating heart,
Have you ever loved another,
Only to have them part,

Have you ever felt the sun,
Its warm rays upon you,
Or the rain lashing down,
Your hair soaked through,

Have you ever sat still,
Toes between the grass,
Or raced at top speed,
Even if you were last,

Have you ever cried in public,
And let emotions take control,
Or held the hand of another,
Gripping tight to consoul,

Have you ever, at the age of fifty,
Played a game of 'tig',
Or at the tender age of six,
Played a game of 'Family' (complete with wig),

Have you ever, in joy
Flown and touched the sky,
Or been so lost and confused,
To only look down with a heavy sigh,

Have you ever sat up conversing,
Until the morning dawn,
Or stayed wrapped in bed,
Until the night, has drawn,

Have you ever questioned,
Anything at all,
Or have you ever answered,
With lies, oh so tall,

Have you ever smelled,
The scent of melted chocolate,
Or tasted one home cooked meal,
Prepared yourself, and ate

Have you ever thought,
That the world was against you,
Or felt so invincible,
There was nothing you couldn't do,

All these and many more,
Are questions I could give,
But in short, my question is,
Have you ever lived?
