The Ghosts Await

In daytime spring and evenin’ summer,
You lay upon the grass in a dreary slumber,
With friends and loved ones laughing freely,
A perfect time, ever so cheery
But behind yer laughter, the ghosts await

Folk all walkin’ to and fro,
For food and shelter, they have to go,
No choice as the big wigs shout
“Nae pay fer ye, if ye laze about”
But behind their hoarded wealth, the ghosts await

Smart men an’ wimmen, in white and blue clothes
Do their best to help yer woes,
Ye might go home to be free again, but others might still lie
Clever brains can only do so much, an’ behind a teary eye
The ghosts, they still await

Ye reckless fools, and selfish punters,
Who’d rather tear common sense asunder,
Who cheer and clap for nonsense sake’
“There’s nothin’ wrang wi’ a simple shake”
For its you, and yer ilk alike, the ghosts, they all await
