Brothers
A small village lay in everywhere
On all the streets that filled the air
Inside that town stood every man's pub
Where they people, they would share in their grub
And in the back corner, a group of young boys
Together in friendship, always for noise
Just simple men, thats all they were
But to see them close you'd know there's mair
A band of brothers, or so to speak
There was one who held a voice so clear
A compassionate tone with a joke in your ear
Surely a singer this man would be
If this brotherly band played musically
Another whose temper would boil and flare
But never a friend would you hold more dear
As he thundered through life, he'd thunder on drums
With friends however, he'd share in the rum
One more who was wild, eccentric and mad
Happy wherever good company was had
A fiddle would suit him, upon his hands
But not for him, for there was no band
Last to see, was a more silent kind
Full of paitience and smiling eyes
The piano would speak, louder than words
But his actions spoke, far more than those
Always together, never to stray
Until life somehow, got in the way
A quartet they were, but now no more
One passed on, tears stained the floor
A trio later was not to be
Another was gone, far too early
A duo they stayed for a little while
A solo was left, with a saddened smile
A hand was pressed between long sighs
To hide the face of teary eyes
A drink in the other, of a single hand
Leaving only the accompaniment of this great band
The years move on and the years move fast
Until the breath he breathed woud be his last
This band of brothers, joined once more
In another world, sat this four
But back in that pub, lay an empty corner
Til the door flew open, and entered four young brothers
Not bound by blood, but of spirit and heart
And now our tale goes back to the start...
